Differentiation of Equipment Operation Policy
In transition season and winter, cooling supply will be suspended and heating supply started for general wards. However, the Operation Department of the Outpatient Building and the medical equipment room may be still in need of cooling. For energy conservation in hospitals, systematic and comprehensive consideration must be given to the cooling/heating source, transmission system, HVAC equipment, control system and operation management.
The A/C system of a hospital integrates the A/C functions of different building types. On the heating source side, such functions include chilling, heating and sanitary hot water. On the demand side, such functions include surgery, hospitalization, diagnosis and treatment, assay, outpatient service, medicine and tubes and biochemistry. Different functional rooms require totally different temperatures, humidifies, fresh air, air flow, air purification and air pressure. Related data indicate that of the energy consumptions in hospitals, power accounts for about 64%. Specifically, A/C system takes up about 50% of the total. A/C system and heating (including hot water and steam) system have become the biggest two energy consumers.
