Energy-saving Solution for Data Center
In recent years, due to explosive growth of data business demand, an increasing number of data centers are being built up. In 2016, the number of data centers of China reached 750,000, with computer room exceeding 5 million square meters. The average growth rate of the total scale is 23%. There has been an apparent large-scale development trend. By now, the total power consumption of data centers in China has topped 100 billion kWh, accounting for 1.8% of the total power consumption of the society, which is the annual power generation of the Three Gorges Power Station.

Data center is a complicated system. Besides computer system and communication and storage equipment, it also includes data communication connection, environmental control equipment, monitoring equipment and various safety devices. The energy consumption is close to the industrial building.

Energy consumption of a data center is generally measured using PUE (power usage effectiveness), namely, the ratio of total power consumption of facilities to IT equipment power consumption. It represents the ratio of power consumed to maintain the operation of the entire data center to the power consumption of each kilowatt hour by the IT equipment of the data center. Related survey has shown that more than 80% of data centers in China have a PUE above 2.

At present, in regions where data centers develop rapidly in China, like Shanghai, power consumption limit has been specified for data centers:

Frequency Conversion Technology
Guolian Green Technology provides variable-frequency driven water chilling unit (including the magnetic suspension unit), which has outstanding partial-load adjustment performance. Ideal IPLV can be achieved. The variable-frequency unit is provided with the quick start function to ensure the outlet water temperature of the unit reaches the set value after restart of the unit upon outage, so as to ensure safe, stable and efficient operation of data center. It is very suitable for the warm backup mode of data centers.
Free Cooling
When the outdoor ambient temperature is not quite high, the dry coil unit of the variable-frequency air-cooled chiller unit YVFA unit equipped with the natural cooling coil exchanges heat with outdoor air, thus effectively lowering the temperature of data center while the compressor is not working. This way, the chilling efficiency is improved and operation expense is reduced.
Combined Heating and Cooling Supply
The heat pump unit, while providing warm cooling water for the data center, provides free hot water for the auxiliary areas, so as to meet the need for heating of bath water and canteen domestic water used by office staff. This way, use of boiler can be reduced to improve the economic benefit and social benefit.
Upgrading of Weak-current System
Guolian Green Technology provides customized optimal products and solutions and services for data center based on the special requirements for weak-current system of the data center, including intelligent entry access system, water leakage warning system, video monitoring system, fire and security system, power supply system and comprehensive wiring system. Group Control of Chiller Plant of Data Center
In the overall solution of Guolian Green Technology, the chiller plant of data center is usually configured as the chilling unit. Dedicated controllers are provided for water chilling unit, chilling and cooling pump, sensor, cooling tower and valve. It is only responsible for equipment logic and sequential start/stop within the unit. There is no mutual influence between units. Furthermore, to meet the emergency cooling need, the automatic control system directly monitors the temperature of different positions of the cooling storage tank or does so through the data interface, and calculates the energy storage status and duration according to the volume and characteristics of cooling storage tank. It also controls related water valves and water pumps. Furthermore, safe free cooling mode control and switch are realized with the chiller plant group control system of Guolian Green Technology.
